As you well know by now, I am the champion of the child free life. \u00a0 If you are a parent and you love it good for you. \u00a0I love my niece and nephew to bits! \u00a0 But they don’t live with me. \u00a0Thank God.<\/p>\n
I hate being told that I’m going to regret not having kids when I’m older. \u00a0While there is no way anyone can know what the future holds, I can assure you that I’m 100% at peace with it now in my mid 40’s.\u00a0 I hate being told that I’m selfish for not having kids. \u00a0I cannot think of many things MORE selfish than having a child I don’t want simply because it’s something I have to do. \u00a0 I hate being told that I’m not a good Christian because I’m not a parent. \u00a0That’s between me and the Lord thank you very much.<\/p>\n
Last week I heard a new one- I’m lazy. \u00a0Yep. \u00a0My life is nothing but sitting on the couch eating bon bons and watching soap operas simply because I’ve never given birth.<\/p>\n
We live in an age where it’s OK to be virtually anything you want to be. \u00a0But childless? \u00a0Woah- THAT makes you some kind of freak. \u00a0 Why? \u00a0What is it about choosing not to be a parent that makes me a perfectly acceptable target of ridicule in this era where it’s almost a crime to criticize anyone for anything?<\/p>\n
