There are some words that a lot of people hate. \u00a0Moist. Panties. \u00a0Munch. \u00a0Fester. \u00a0Vomit. \u00a0Snatch.<\/p>\n
Those words don’t bother me too much, but, like everyone else, I do have my own set of words that make me want to shove pencils and\/ or knitting needles into my ears. \u00a0Here are my top 5 in no particular order:<\/p>\n
#5 Secrete. \u00a0Just sounds icky. \u00a0And usually is. \u00a0No one secretes candy or vodka or anything good.<\/p>\n
#4 Soulmate. \u00a0First off, they are imaginary. \u00a07 billion people on Earth and you can only be happy with one other person? \u00a0How depressing (and downright ludicrous) is that? \u00a0Never mind that the scores of people who use the concept to justify cheating or other horrible behaviors.<\/p>\n
#3 Alternative. \u00a0This is one isn’t awful all the time, just in certain usages. \u00a0Alternative energy is a wonderful thing. \u00a0Alternative lifestyle? \u00a0Come on, it’s not the 80’s. \u00a0Being gay isn’t a “lifestyle” any more than being straight is. \u00a0Alternative medicine? \u00a0You mean medicine that doesn’t work? \u00a0Not much of an alternative unless you consider dying an alternative lifestyle. Alternative facts? \u00a0Those are called lies.<\/p>\n
#2 Aluminum. \u00a0I have a difficult time pronouncing this word correctly in spite of the fact that I have to say it many times a day almost every day I’m at work. \u00a0I have to think really hard about it each and every time and it gets very annoying.<\/p>\n
#1 Journey. \u00a0This is another word that is perfectly fine in some situations and awful in others. \u00a0 Travelling across the desert in a covered wagon would be a journey. \u00a0Walking from Italy to Norway would be a journey. \u00a0Being on a realty TV show is not a journey. \u00a0Going on a diet is not a journey. \u00a0And for the love of God don’t name your child Journey!<\/p>\n
So those are some of the words that I hate. \u00a0What weird words make your skin crawl? \u00a0Let’s all be uncomfortable together!<\/p>\n
