Today I’d like to talk to you about a subject we all know and many of us have a love\/ hate relationship with- bras.\u00a0 Specifically, bra straps.<\/p>\n
Last weekend I went to a Bon Jovi concert with my dear friend Lisa.\u00a0 There is NO lack of people watching opportunities there.\u00a0 One trend that we saw a lot of were visible bra straps.\u00a0 And it looked tacky as hell every time. Yes, there are bras designed to be seen, but none of women we saw had invested in one of those.<\/p>\n
To be clear, I am NOT interested in getting into a discussion on the societal constructs around wearing bras in the first place.\u00a0 That is another conversation for another day.\u00a0 Today I’m only griping about women who choose to wear one but fail on the execution.<\/p>\n
Simply put, in 2018 there is no reason for anyone to ever see your bra straps.\u00a0 \u00a0A quick Google search will find hundreds of options for strapless bras, T-back bras, backless bras, etc.\u00a0 Or go braless if you are so inclined.\u00a0 It’s called underwear for a reason- because we aren’t supposed to see it!\u00a0 Remember when super low rise pants were in and the visible thong was a thing?\u00a0 Remember how tacky that looked?\u00a0 Guess what?\u00a0 This looks just as awful.<\/p>\n
And, since I already hear the arguments coming:<\/p>\n
No, these were not all 20 somethings.\u00a0 In fact, none of them were.\u00a0 They are all fellow middle aged women who should know better.\u00a0 I would have cut Millenials a little more slack.<\/p>\n
No, it’s not “just the style”.\u00a0 Yes, bras with cool lacy backs and the like exist to be seen.\u00a0 Your standard Kohls or Target every day options are not those.\u00a0 Looking like you can’t dress yourself it’s a style, it’s a sad commentary on your lack of mirrors in your home and\/ or good friends to tell you that you look like a damn fool.<\/p>\n
No, it’s not sexy.\u00a0 I did a quick informal poll of folks that included all the major genders, and not a single person, male or female, found this appealing.\u00a0 Looking like a moron rarely is.<\/p>\n
So, in review, underwear goes UNDER your clothes.\u00a0 If you aren’t sure if what you are putting on underwear, ask yourself if you would leave your house without anything over it.\u00a0 If the answer is no, then show some class and cover it up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
