Today is Maritime Day- a day to remember and thank the men and women who work in, on or near cargo boats and ports. In spite of all the advances in modern technology, more cargo is transported by water than other method we have!<\/p>\n
I have wondered from time to time what leads someone to choose the life of a seaman (or woman).\u00a0 I don’t think I’ll ever know the answer, but I can appreciate what they do and what must be countless lonely nights away from their loved ones.<\/p>\n
For me personally, this day is special because for me “maritime” means Duluth MN- aka my “happy place”.\u00a0 \u00a0I have many happy memories of times spent in the Maritime Museum in Canal Park, and in the entire Canal Park area.\u00a0 It’s a fitting tribute to maritime pursuits and a place that holds a ton of happy memories for me.\u00a0 Maybe you have a waterfront that does the same for you?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
