If you’ve been on the internet for more than 5 minutes you’ve noticed that there is a lot of finger pointing going on between generations.\u00a0 The Baby Boomers ruined the (insert resource here).\u00a0 Millennials are ruining the (insert name here) industry. Gen Z doesn’t understand (insert topic here).<\/p>\n
If you are observant, you’ll notice that one generation is almost never mentioned.\u00a0 Gen X.\u00a0 aka my generation.\u00a0 However, this doesn’t surprise us.\u00a0 We’ve been flying under the radar our entire lives.<\/p>\n
We were born between 1965 and 1980 by most definitions.\u00a0 Gen X is a smaller generation- around 64 million to the Boomers 70ish and the Millenials 75ish.\u00a0 We were the first latchkey kids.\u00a0 We were the first to have a significant number of our parents get divorced.\u00a0 We were the first to play video games and watch MTV after school.\u00a0 We were called underachievers and slackers before we were old enough to even know what that meant.\u00a0 \u00a0We were so little considered that we didn’t even have a name until 1991.<\/p>\n
Gen X is not without its major players.\u00a0 Influential Gen Xers include Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Serena and Venus Williams, Kobe Bryant, Beyonce, Tupac, Kamala Harris and Melania Trump.<\/p>\n
But, for the most part, we are fine with Boomers and Millenials lobbing grenades at each other over our heads.\u00a0 We’ll just be over here living our lives our own way.\u00a0 Just like we always have.<\/p>\n
