NOTE- I am NOT a crazy cat lady.\u00a0 I only have three cats.\u00a0 And I have a spouse.\u00a0 Crazy cat ladies do not have spouses.<\/p>\n
So, why are cats better than dogs?\u00a0 Glad you asked!<\/p>\n
#5 Cats live longer.\u00a0 \u00a0Everyone knows the worst part of having a pet is losing them.\u00a0 The average life of a large breed dog is 10 to 12 years.\u00a0 The average life of a small breed dog is 12 to 14 years (although there are a couple breeds that typically live much longer).\u00a0 The average life for in indoor cat is 13 to 16 years.\u00a0 \u00a0We don’t talk about outdoor cats.<\/p>\n
#4 Cats are smaller (again, I know there are exceptions).\u00a0 This means they eat less food and create less poop.\u00a0 They need smaller amount of medication should any be needed.\u00a0 When they sit on the couch there is still room for you.\u00a0 When they sit on your lap you can still breathe.\u00a0 People aren’t afraid to come to your house because you have a big cat.<\/p>\n
#4a\u00a0 Cats do not eat their own turds or the turds of other animals.<\/p>\n
#3 Cats are quieter.\u00a0 They don’t bark.\u00a0 Ever. Barring an intact female in heat, I don’t think cats are capable of producing the sheer decibel level of even a small dog barking their damn fool head off. No one gets the police called on them because their cat is keeping the entire neighborhood awake all night with their barking.\u00a0 No one is on the phone apologizing because their cat is making too much noise.<\/p>\n
#2 Cat are independent.\u00a0 You can leave them home alone for a couple days and your house will still be standing when you get back.\u00a0 As long as they have food, water, and mostly clean place to potty they are perfectly fine on their own.\u00a0 A dog will do anything for a pat on the head and a “Good boy\/ girl!”.\u00a0 Cats have more pride than that.\u00a0 But no, being more independent does not mean cats are not affectionate!\u00a0 Which leads me directly to……..<\/p>\n
#1 Dogs don’t purr.\u00a0 There is NOTHING that compares to the joy of a putting kitty on your lap.\u00a0 And even better, the frequency at which they purr has been found to have health benefits for humans including reduced stress, reduced blood pressure, and faster healing.\u00a0 \u00a0The canine world has nothing to offer that even comes close.<\/p>\n
