I’m kicking myself like crazy today.<\/p>\n
Somehow I missed the memo that the Northern Lights would be visible in my neck of the woods this past weekend.\u00a0 I don’t know how I missed it because now it seems like it was EVERYWHERE.\u00a0 My allergies were kicking my ass most of the week, so maybe I was just in a Benadryl fog?\u00a0 It boggles my mind.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I woke up Saturday morning (after one of the worst nights of sleep in my LIFE) to hundreds of amazing pictures from everyone from my sister to classmates 5 states away.\u00a0 I went to a couple graduation parties on Saturday and I got to hear all about the lights from even more people.\u00a0 Yay.<\/p>\n
I did a little reading once I got home, and the lights were supposed to be out Saturday night too!\u00a0 So, at 10pm I set out from my house with my cell phone in tow.\u00a0 I found a field driveway a few miles north of town and I set up shop.\u00a0 I sat there until 11pm and I did not see a damn thing.\u00a0 All I saw were a few sets of headlights slowing down as they drove past, probably wondering who I was and what I was doing in a field driveway at 10:30 at night.<\/p>\n
So I’m pretty disappointed with myself today.\u00a0 \u00a0I can’t believe I missed this!\u00a0 My only consolation is that it’s likely I’ll have more opportunities to see them before I die.\u00a0 Depending on what time of year we go to Iceland, that may be a good opportunity.\u00a0 Or there will be more solar storms in 17 years.\u00a0 Or maybe I’ll go to Alaska someday?\u00a0 I guess this is going on the bucket list now.<\/p>\n
