Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade there has been a lot of activity within the pro-life movement.\u00a0 My opinion on this topic is well documented, so I’m not going to get into that today.\u00a0 You can read it here if you’re curious:\u00a0https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=1849<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Instead I’m going to focus on a newer player in the pro-life space.<\/p>\n

Traditionally there have been two main groups of people in this movement.\u00a0 The first is the folks who are in for religious reasons.\u00a0 They believe that abortion as any point in a pregnancy is murder.\u00a0 Some activists will tell you these people don’t exist.\u00a0 I’m here to tell you they do.\u00a0 I know plenty.\u00a0 I’m related to some of them.<\/p>\n

The second group is the ones who think women should be barefoot and pregnant at all times.\u00a0 They were against every step in the women’s rights movement and continue to bemoan the day women got the right to vote.\u00a0 Weirdly enough, there are women in this group!\u00a0 I cannot even begin to wrap my head around that.<\/p>\n

But now a third group has joined the fray.\u00a0 These are the worst of them all.\u00a0 They are the racists.\u00a0 They appose abortion (and often also birth control) because “women aren’t having enough babies to support our culture”.\u00a0 What they REALLY mean is that WHITE women aren’t having enough babies to ensure that Caucasians continue to be the majority in the United States.\u00a0 I first became this opinion was out there when the disgraced former Iowa Congressman (and I use the term “man” loosely here) tweeted in 2017\u00a0 “We can\u2019t restore our civilization with somebody else\u2019s babies.”\u00a0 \u00a0The racists know that it’s projected that by 2050 whites will no longer be the majority in the United States and that drives them crazy.\u00a0 The very thought of there being more brown and black people than whites here terrifies them.\u00a0 So this is how they think they can “fix” this.<\/p>\n

There is nothing positive to say about people who think this way.\u00a0 It’s despicable on every level.\u00a0 It manages to be hateful against the very people they need to achieve their purpose, which is a real head scratcher.<\/p>\n

I’m glad I’m past my child-bearing years. I worry about my niece and what her future will look like. I do believe that eventually the smart people will prevail, but the ugly idiots seem to be having a moment right now.\u00a0 And it scares the hell out of me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
