My husband Pat and I spent a few days in Miami at the end of June.\u00a0 \u00a0 We hit up an autograph show, we spent time with old friends, made new ones, and took in the sights.\u00a0 \u00a0We had a great time!<\/p>\n
I was looking for just a nice getaway, and it was that for sure.\u00a0 But it turned out to be a lot more than that.<\/p>\n
I spent one day at two modern art museums- Superblue Miami and Rubell Museum.\u00a0 I cannot recommend either of them enough and they are literally right across the street from each other so it’s easy to hit them both.\u00a0 I saw exhibits using light and sound in ways I had never even imagined, let alone wonder if they were possible.\u00a0 \u00a0I love having my mind blown like that.\u00a0 And art museums are very quiet places, so you can really experience everything without a lot of outside interference.\u00a0 Even if you don’t think you are an art museum person- especially if you don’t think you are! – I encourage you to find a museum near you to experience art and culture.\u00a0 Go in with an open mind and you will be really surprised what you can find and what you can learn about yourself and the world around you.\u00a0 I always am.<\/p>\n
But the biggest thing I found in Miami that I hope stays with me?\u00a0 Confidence.<\/p>\n
I was expecting to be surrounded by beautiful, thin, tan, fit women at all times.\u00a0 And there are plenty of those for sure.\u00a0 But just like anywhere else, the women came in all shapes and all sizes.\u00a0 And women of all sizes- including me!- were called beautiful by random people while out and about.\u00a0 The first time I blamed it on booze since we were at a mixer event.\u00a0 But even a couple stone cold people called me gorgeous!<\/p>\n
I used to wear skirts semi-frequently in my “normal life” during warmer months but I got away from that over the years as offices got more and more casual.\u00a0 I did in Miami because it was hot as hell and I needed all the help I could get to stay cool.\u00a0 I’m certainly not saying that my pasty white legs were what garnered the compliments!\u00a0 Instead, I realized that I feel good when wearing them and maybe that extra confidence is what made me more attractive.\u00a0 I have resolved to bring skirts back into my Midwest life this summer because they make me happy.\u00a0 And I deserve to be happy.<\/p>\n
