Today we will not wring our hands about all the time we spend on our phones.\u00a0 Today we celebrate everything our electronics have brought to our lives- it’s National Device Appreciation Day!<\/p>\n
Do you remember the days before everyone had a cell phone?\u00a0 How hard was it to get a hold of people when you really needed to- i.e. a death in the family or a car accident?<\/p>\n
How about before everyone had a camera phone?\u00a0 How many vacations, birthdays, etc. are lost to time because “the pictures didn’t turn out”?\u00a0 My parents have no photos of their honeymoon.\u00a0 Not because they didn’t take any, but either the roll of film was defective or something went awry during the development process.<\/p>\n
Before social media?\u00a0 How much harder was is to keep in touch with friends who wind up living hundreds or thousands of miles apart?\u00a0 How much harder was it to plan get togethers with friends or family?\u00a0 How much harder was it to discover new music, TV shows, or movies?<\/p>\n
No, I’m not saying that there haven’t been downsides to all of this new technologies.\u00a0 But just for a day, let’s think about the good it can – and has done for us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
