So I have an aggravation that is laughable by almost any standard.\u00a0 But it’s bugging me and when things bug me I write about them.<\/p>\n
As you well know I am a huge Miami Dolphins fan.\u00a0 Have been since I was a kid.\u00a0 What you may not know unless you are also a football fan is that for many years the bane of our exitance were the New England Patriots.\u00a0 \u00a0Maybe you’ve heard of a guy named Tom Brady?\u00a0 Yeah, he was their quarterback for ages.\u00a0 The Patriots won the division something like 12 years in a row.\u00a0 It was brutal.<\/p>\n
Well, also during this time of terror their coach was Bill Belichick.\u00a0 Many call him the greatest coach in the history of the NFL.\u00a0 I disagree since the late great Don Shula has the most wins of any coach with 347 AND coached the 72 Dolphins to the only undefeated team in NFL history.\u00a0 And then there’s there all the times he got caught stealing signs from opposing teams.\u00a0 And Deflategate. But I digress.<\/p>\n
Belichick and the Patriots parted ways in 2023.\u00a0 Since then Bill has been in the headlines mostly for having a 24 year old girlfriend (Bill is 72).\u00a0 I was pleased that he was out of the public eye and hoped it would stay that way.\u00a0 But, couple weeks ago The University of North Carolina hired Belichick to be their new football coach.<\/p>\n
You might be asking why I care about this.\u00a0 I don’t follow college football.\u00a0 I find the games boring and there are just too many teams to keep track of.\u00a0\u00a0I DO however follow college basketball to some degree.\u00a0 Who do you suppose is my favorite college team?\u00a0 You guessed it, the UNC Tarheels.<\/p>\n
So now my favorite school is tarnished with my least favorite coach. I am aware that basketball and football are two different sports.\u00a0 This is a good time to mention that I hate Nick Sabin (former University of Alabama and Miami Dolphins coach) so much that I root against the University of Alabama basketball team.<\/p>\n
Only time will tell if I burn my UNC shirt and find a new favorite team come March Madness.\u00a0 For now I’ll just say that Bill Belichick doesn’t look good on Carolina blue.<\/p>\n
