I’ve started this post multiple, multiple times.\u00a0 It’s been very hard, even though I’ve written about this topic several times before including here\u00a0https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=4931<\/a> and plenty other places.<\/p>\n

But luck – or maybe divine intervention- was with me today.\u00a0 This morning at church we sang the Hymn “Help Us to Accept Each Other” by Frank Kahn.\u00a0 And it spoke to my heart and says exactly what I was trying to say.\u00a0 So instead of reinventing the wheel, I’m going to borrow Frank’s words.\u00a0 THIS is how Christians are supposed to act, to think, to live.\u00a0 \u00a0And wouldn’t it be beautiful if we did?<\/p>\n

Help us accept each other as Christ accepted us;\r\nteach us as sister, brother, each person to embrace.\r\nBe present, Lord, among us and Bring us to believe:\r\nwe are ourselves accepted and meant to love and live.\r\n\r\nTeach us, O Lord, your lessons, as in our daily life\r\nwe struggle to be human and search for hope and faith.\r\nTeach us to care for people, for all - not just for some,\r\nto love them as we find them or as they may become.\r\n\r\nLet your acceptance change us so that we may be moved\r\nin living situations to do the truth in love;\r\nto practice your acceptance until we know by heart\r\nthe table of forgiveness and laughter's healing art.\r\n\r\nLord, for today's encounters with all who are in need,\r\nwho hunger for acceptance, for justice and for bread,\r\nwe need new eyes for seeing, new hands for holding on:\r\nrenew us with your Spirit; Lord, free us, make us one.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
