Once again, the scourge upon our lives known as Daylight Saving Time is here.<\/p>\n
Many people look forward to this stupid day because it means that the sun rises and sets later every day.\u00a0 Clearly I am not one of these people.<\/p>\n
I’ve made my feelings about the angry tangerine currently in the White House very clear, but he had promised\u00a0 he was going to end Daylight Saving Time.\u00a0 Well, in news that should surprise absolutely NO ONE he’s changed his mind about that.\u00a0 The supposed reason why is one that many other politicians have sited over the years- there is no clear consensus which option people want- half of people polled want to stay with Daylight Saving time all year, and the other half want to use Standard Time all year.\u00a0 I personally would prefer Standard, but now I would take either one as long as we just picked one and stuck with it.<\/p>\n
The negative impacts of switching clocks back and forth every year on human health, wellbeing, and productivity are real and well documented.\u00a0 In fact, if you were wondering if I’ve complained about this before, yes I have.\u00a0 Most recently here\u00a0https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=2772 <\/a><\/p>\n So you might be wondering why I’m griping about this again now.\u00a0 There are a couple reasons.<\/p>\n #1 I REALLY don’t need this right now.\u00a0 I’m facing an existential crisis about my parents’ aging (read about that here)\u00a0 https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=5199<\/a>\u00a0 , I’m facing a very long week of work ahead of me due to a much higher than usual number of coworkers on PTO than usual (Because of spring break), and I already have a cold.\u00a0 I don’t have the bandwidth for this BS right now.<\/p>\n #2 This was the ONE THING that I was actually happy about Trump doing.\u00a0 I live in a red state and know a lot of otherwise intelligent people (and a lot of morons too)\u00a0 who voted for the guy and I thought it would be nice to actually have something positive to say about him.\u00a0 But now that’s been taken away from us too.<\/p>\n And yes I know this is a first world problem.\u00a0 But it’s my first world problem and it pisses me off.\u00a0 \u00a0Especially today.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Once again, the scourge upon our lives known as Daylight Saving Time is here.
