{"id":5265,"date":"2025-04-28T17:15:40","date_gmt":"2025-04-28T22:15:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=5265"},"modified":"2025-04-27T19:43:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T00:43:32","slug":"the-one-no-one-asked-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=5265","title":{"rendered":"The One No One Asked For"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fun fact- there are almost as many websites willing to provide tips and ideas for posting as there are actual blogs.\u00a0 Some are geared at specific audiences- i.e. fitness, travel, corporate, etc. &#8211; and some attempt to offer tips and tricks for any and all blog types.\u00a0 \u00a0 Many offer at least some information for free while some keep much of their content behind a paywall.<\/p>\n<p>But there is one blog idea that I think you can find in virtually all of these sites- and that is &#8220;A day in the life&#8221; post.\u00a0 I never considered using the idea because my life is not all that exciting.\u00a0 But, there has to be a reason why literally everyone suggests it.<\/p>\n<p>So, here we are.\u00a0 An average day in the life of me.<\/p>\n<p>6:30am.\u00a0 My alarm goes off.\u00a0 I am one of the last few people on Earth who still uses an actual alarm clock and not the clock on my phone.\u00a0 That might be a sign that I&#8217;m old, but guess what?\u00a0 I AM old.\u00a0 Often one or more of the cats is in bed with me and I pet them while playing around on my phone. I play Wordle pretty often.<\/p>\n<p>6:55am I actually get out of bed.\u00a0 \u00a0First stop is the bathroom for obvious reasons including washing my face and brushing my teeth.\u00a0 \u00a0Then I try to figure out what to wear- perhaps by asking one of my cats what they think.\u00a0 Then I get my hair and face in order and grab a protein shake.<\/p>\n<p>7:20am I leave the house, protein shake and bottle of pop in head.\u00a0 I usually listen to podcasts or the Bon Jovi channel on Sirius XM on my way to work<\/p>\n<p>8am Arrive at work.\u00a0 I&#8217;m an inside sales rep for a small manufacturing company.\u00a0 My work day consists mostly of sending and receiving emails but I do spend a fair amount of time on the phone too.\u00a0 There is often a meeting or two thrown in too.<\/p>\n<p>11:30am Lunch time.\u00a0 I usually do leave the office because I&#8217;ve found it improves my mental health.\u00a0 I mix it up with going to a variety of local fast\/ fast casual places to eat.\u00a0 Most days I do try to eat semi-healthy, but at least once a week I say &#8220;screw it&#8221; and just eat whatever I want, no matter how bad it is for me.<\/p>\n<p>12:30pm.\u00a0 Back to work.\u00a0 Fewer meetings, but otherwise very similar to the morning.\u00a0 More emails, more phone calls.\u00a0 Maybe a little more conversation with my coworkers.<\/p>\n<p>5pm.\u00a0 I leave the office and head home.\u00a0 Again it&#8217;s mix of podcasts and music, mixed in with the occasional phone call.\u00a0 Especially since my mother dislocated her shoulder last winter I like to call her and see how she&#8217;s doing at least once a week.<\/p>\n<p>5:45pm.\u00a0 Get home.\u00a0 Yes, it usually takes me longer to get home than to go to work.\u00a0 Make of that what you will.\u00a0 Two or three of the cats usually greet me at the door and I usually talk to them and tell them how much I love them.\u00a0 Often in funny voices.\u00a0 \u00a0Assuming it&#8217;s a night when my husband and I are both home by this time or shortly after, a discussion has already taken place on if we are eating supper at home or going out.<\/p>\n<p>6pm If we going out we head out.\u00a0 If we are staying in I will do a little housework- think a little vacuuming, tidying up, washing dishes, etc.\u00a0 I may also start working on supper based on what time we want to eat it.\u00a0 And yes I do make supper most of the time, but Pat does sometimes too.\u00a0 I mostly make things that can be done in the oven. Baked pork chops or chicken, frozen lasagna, pasta, etc.\u00a0 During warm months Pat may grill out.<\/p>\n<p>7pm Dinner time.<\/p>\n<p>7:30am.
