If you’ve been around here any length of time you know that I am not a fan of an over the top wedding.\u00a0 My advice to anyone who is planning a wedding is to not.\u00a0 Just elope and use that money for something useful.\u00a0 Buy a house.\u00a0 Pay down debt.\u00a0 \u00a0Get a better vehicle.\u00a0 Your grandmother and that one aunt will get over it and everyone else you love will be THRILLED to not have to waste a weekend in uncomfortable clothing pretending they love eating bland food and cheap booze.<\/p>\n
I stand by this 100%.<\/p>\n
But.<\/p>\n
I have a new guilty pleasure.\u00a0 It’s “shopping’ for wedding dresses.<\/p>\n
I cannot explain why I enjoy this so much.\u00a0 I’m happily married.\u00a0 I did not wear a wedding dress and Pat and I got married because we got married at the courthouse at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon.\u00a0 And even if I were to get married today and have a big ol wedding (which I would very much not do) 95% of the dresses I see would look ridiculous on someone my age.<\/p>\n
But that does not stop me.\u00a0 I look at dresses all the time.\u00a0 It’s a simple quick pick me up when I need it.<\/p>\n
Does that make me a hypocrite?\u00a0 I don’t know.\u00a0 I’m not going to buy a wedding dress so I’m not directly contributing to the wedding industry juggernaut. But views boost views so I’m helping these shops get in front of more impressionable young women.\u00a0 So, yeah.\u00a0 I probably am.\u00a0 Sigh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
