{"id":5483,"date":"2026-01-05T17:15:25","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T23:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=5483"},"modified":"2026-01-04T22:17:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T04:17:39","slug":"getting-lippy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=5483","title":{"rendered":"Getting Lippy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had a lip balm on me at all times since college.\u00a0 I&#8217;m more likely to leave my house without my phone than I am without at least one on my person.\u00a0 One of &#8220;lame claims to fame&#8221; is that I have completely used up more than one tubes of lip balm before I lost it.\u00a0 I had no idea how rare this was until recently- I had no idea I was so talented LOL.<\/p>\n<p>A couple years ago I was diagnosed with a mild case of sleep apnea and so I got a CPAP (you can read all about that here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=4605\">https:\/\/beckypalmer.me\/?p=4605<\/a> ).\u00a0 So, now on average I have a light breeze blowing on my face 7 to 8 hours a night.\u00a0 As my might imagine, this made my already fragile lips very angry.\u00a0 \u00a0Because of this, I have tried virtually every drug store lip product on the market and I&#8217;m going to share my results with you to save you time and money.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE- I&#8217;m not going to rate the super common ones- i.e. Chapstick, Carmex, etc.\u00a0 Everyone has tried those so I wouldn&#8217;t be adding anything new there.\u00a0 I&#8217;m also excluding tinted lip products even though I do use a few of those too because they have more limited use cases.<\/p>\n<p>Up first are the misses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm\u00a0 \u00a0$10 per tube.\u00a0 \u00a0Grainy texture, did nothing for me at all.<\/li>\n<li>Dr Pawpaw Lip Treatment\u00a0 $10 per tube.\u00a0 By far the worst I tried.\u00a0 Weird almost slimy texture that didn&#8217;t stay on my lips- I felt like it sort of crawled out into the rest of my face.\u00a0 \u00a0I actually threw this one away.<\/li>\n<li>OKeefe&#8217;s Lip Repair Night Treatment $9 a tub.\u00a0 Was recommended by a nurse, but didn&#8217;t do much for me. I didn&#8217;t like the scent either which is a big deal since I was using it at night with my CPAP on.<\/li>\n<li>Dr Bronner&#8217;s Lip Balm $5 a tube.\u00a0 \u00a0Really waxy, didn&#8217;t really do anything<\/li>\n<li>Revlon Kiss Sugar Scrub.\u00a0 $8 a tube. Irritated my lips, very strong scent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next are the &#8220;mehs&#8221;.\u00a0 They were OK but not ones I repurchased.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lanolips Original Ointment $17 a tube Worked OK, but there are cheaper options that work just as well.<\/li>\n<li>OKeefe&#8217;s Lip Repair $3 a tube\u00a0 \u00a0Very small tube, weird smell, works OK.<\/li>\n<li>Vaseline Lip Therapy $6 a tub.\u00a0 If it wasn&#8217;t in a tub it would be a hit, but it&#8217;s messy to use.<\/li>\n<li>Burt&#8217;s Bees $4 a tube.\u00a0 \u00a0It&#8217;s fine, but nothing to write home about.<\/li>\n<li>Tree Hut Overnight Lip Mask.\u00a0 $7 a tub.\u00a0 Works OK, but has a really strong, off-putting smell.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now to the hits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elf Holy Hydration! Lip Mask.\u00a0 $8 a tub.
