I recently had a long conversation with a couple coworkers about what I thought were the most common thing on Earth- black pants.\u00a0 \u00a0Half of my pants are black and I assumed that this was just normal.<\/p>\n
Apparently not.\u00a0 2 of the 4 people in the conversation claimed to not own a single part of black pants.\u00a0 NONE.\u00a0 \u00a0Not a one.\u00a0 They claimed that “nothing goes with black”.\u00a0 \u00a0They owned navy pants, khaki pants, even gray pants.\u00a0 But no black.<\/p>\n
This is probably a good time to mention that I was the only woman in this conversation.\u00a0 \u00a0But I’m not sure how much that matters.\u00a0 \u00a0Thinking about the men I work with I feel like I see most of them in black pants at least some of the time, and a couple of them in black pants frequently.\u00a0 My dad has black pants.\u00a0 My husband has black pants.\u00a0 My pastor has black pants.<\/p>\n
Maybe it’s an age thing?\u00a0 The guys I had this conversation with were all younger than me by at least 10 years and 2 of them were a couple decades younger than me.\u00a0 \u00a0 I asked ChatGPT this question and it told me that younger folks do indeed wear black pants but they tend to be more “street wear” and less “traditional office wear”.<\/p>\n
So maybe it is age.\u00a0 Maybe I’m just too set in my ways. Maybe black is the only color that I can actually find pants that are long enough for my 6 foot tall awkward body.\u00a0 Regardless of the reason, you can have my black pants when you tear them out of my cold, dead fingers.<\/p>\n
