To survive in polite society we need to tell a few white lies.\u00a0 We don’t tell people when we think their baby is ugly or the real reason we skipped that Tupperware party.<\/p>\n
But then there are things that I’m convinced no one actually likes but we are all too polite to say so.\u00a0 Well, I’m not.<\/p>\n
#1 Being in a wedding.\u00a0 \u00a0This is way worse for women than men, but it’s a pain for everyone.\u00a0 Best case scenario you are local to the events and don’t need to travel.\u00a0 But even then you have to go get fitted for your outfit.\u00a0 You have to pay (or at least the rental cost) for said outfit.\u00a0 There are awkward get togethers with people you don’t know well- if at all.\u00a0 There is the endless photo session.\u00a0 \u00a0And that’s just if you are lucky enough to not have a bridezilla (or groomzilla) on your hands!<\/p>\n
#2 Working out.\u00a0 You might like how your body looks when you work out consistently.\u00a0 You might feel great after a good workout.\u00a0 You might be proud of personal best times\/ weights.\u00a0 But no one sweating balls and grunting like an ogre is enjoying themselves.\u00a0 \u00a0Period.<\/p>\n
#3 Fancy booze.\u00a0 People love being absolute snobs about wine or whiskey.\u00a0 But really?\u00a0 When blindfolded so-called experts consistently can’t tell the difference between $10 and $200 wine.\u00a0 \u00a0People like the supposed status of owning and enjoying fancy booze.\u00a0 \u00a0It’s not about the taste.<\/p>\n
#4 Networking events.\u00a0 You might enjoy the food or the beverages.\u00a0 But even the most extroverted person on Earth can only handle so much small talk- especially industry related small talk.\u00a0 And there is always that one person you actually go there to talk to that either doesn’t show or is occupied the entire time.<\/p>\n
#5 New Years Eve.\u00a0 Almost no one stays up until midnight every night so you’re up past your bedtime- not a good start.\u00a0 Then add the pain of dressing up, worrying about getting hit by a drunk driver on the way home, and the stupid glasses and party favors someone thrusts upon you.\u00a0 No thank you – I’ll just stay home.<\/p>\n
