I recently happened upon a haiku on a humor website. I really wish I could remember which one as I’d love to give them credit, but alas I cannot. It went like this:<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span> <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Haiku’s are easy to write<\/span><\/div>\n
But they don’t always make sense<\/span><\/div>\n
Refrigerator<\/span><\/div>\n

I found this highly amusing and have been composing a few of my own. I encourage everyone else to try it too- it’s a surprisingly effective stress reliever! If you are hard pressed for topics you can start byexpressing your frustrations with the little problems of everyday life. As examples:<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

I eat well, lose half a pound<\/span><\/div>\n
I eat bad, lose half a pound<\/span><\/div>\n
Bring on the Cheetos<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The check engine light goes on<\/span><\/div>\n
The check engine light goes off<\/span><\/div>\n
What’s the deal here, car?<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Or perhaps you’d rather let your poetry reflect your interests or pastimes:<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Minnesota Vikings suck<\/span><\/div>\n
They have sucked for a long time<\/span><\/div>\n
Please bring back Bud Grant<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

I must go on Facebook now<\/span><\/div>\n
I need to harvest my crops<\/span><\/div>\n
And “like” lots of things<\/span><\/div>\n

If all else fails you can try something like:<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

I am writing in haiku’s<\/span><\/div>\n
Why? Simply because I can <\/span><\/div>\n
Now, time for a snack<\/span><\/div>\n
