What day of Christmas is it anyway?

Believe it or not, today (December 26th) is actually the FIRST day of Christmas. Yes really. And in case you were wondering, the 12th day of Christmas is January 6, Epiphany, which marks the celebration of the Magi visit to the baby Jesus.

Why do I mention this? To gripe about a Christmas pet peeve that’s bugged me for year that has nothing to actually do with any religious observation. It’s the rush people are in to pack away the Christmas decor on December 26th- or even worse- on the afternoon of the 25th.

Now you have watched any TV or listened to any radio since Halloween you have been beaten to death with ads purporting that everything from Chia Pets to Snuggies “Make Great Gifts”. And yes, that does get very old very fast. But that doesn’t mean that you have to throw out the baby with the bath water!
So please, no nagging the co-worker who doesn’t take down the Christmas lights on her desk on Monday or shows up in a Santa cap! I see no reason why we can’t continue to enjoy “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” until at least New Years Day!
