Am I the only person on the planet who doesn’t get super excited about Halloween?
When I was a kid Halloween was pretty much reserved for elementary aged kids. Adults stayed home and handed out candy to said kids when they knocked on their doors in costume.
But now it appears that adults are more into Halloween than kids are! Every bar in America is advertising a costume contest tonight! Stores are filled with pumpkin shaped candy and inflatable pumpkins and ghost and witch decor. At one of my previous jobs we actually had trick or treating at work. While I suppose in theory this was a good idea I cannot begin to explain how annoying it was to those of use who were trying to work that afternoon but had the misfortune of sitting next to someone who had signed up for this.
I do love holidays- I love Christmas, I love Easter, I love Valentine’s Day. I love Thanksgiving too even though I am not sure it’s still a holiday- it seems it’s been completely devoured by the ghost of Christmas Shopping. But this Halloween thing just doesn’t do it for me.
