Think like a cat

I woke up this (Saturday) morning earlier than I wanted to because I had to take my car in for service at 8AM. As the alarm went off I thought all kinds of unpleasant things. But then my cat Pumpkin jumped up onto me, curled up, and started purring like she didn’t have a care in a world. As I was scratching the back of her head I could hear my husband’s (still sleeping) breathing next to me. I had a “light bulb moment” there is the quiet- I am damn lucky!

I have a wonderful husband who loves me unconditionally. I have a close-knit family that gets along better than most. I have a job to go back to on Monday, a car to get me there and Sirius radio in that car to enjoy during the commute. I have a nice house to live in with food in the fridge and my sweet little Pumpkin girl to welcome me home every day (our other cat- Hershey- ignores me unless I am feeding him or attending to his litter box). I have access to good healthcare. I have clean clothes to wear. I live in a place where I can blog freely about whatever I want without concern that my government or anyone else will interfere. I can worship in the church of my choosing as often as I want to. Just the fact the I woke up this morning puts me ahead of those who didn’t!

I have been told that I have a bit of a naive veiw of things and that things aren’t always as good or as decent as I think they could be. But I am OK with that. I would much rather go through life grateful and content than angry and envious. Just like Pumpkin does.
