Almost all of us have fold memories of a pet who is no longer with us, so this is a day that can touch us all.
There is a lovely poem, author unknown about a place called the Rainbow Bridge, essentially a heaven for well-loved pets. You can find it all over the internet, including here: https://www.rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm
Deborah Barnes is a blogger who wrote about her journey caring for and eventually losing her beloved cat Mr. Jazz in her blog and eventually a book as well. She chose to dedicate August 28th as Rainbow Bridge remembrance day as that’s the day Mr. Jazz passed in 2013.
For me, today I remember Buddy, Princess, Indiana and a lot of “barn cats”. They improved my life in so many ways and I’m grateful for the time I had with them. I am also grateful for the fur babies currently in my life, Pumpkin, Boots, and yes, even Hershey – the demon cat who hates me. Make sure you take a moment to appreciate your pets, past and present today as well.
