What It’s All About

This week here in the US we celebrate Thanksgiving.  It’s a time for families to get together over what’s usually a comically large amount of food and take time to be thankful for all of our blessings.

It’s a holiday full of rituals.  For some it’s the breaking of the wishbone.  For others it’s scouring the Black Friday ads.  Some folks have a yearly touch football game in the afternoon.   Others have a special dessert or side dish that only is prepared once a year.  There are folks who spend the day volunteering at shelters or churches. And some who just love catching up with cousins they rarely see.

No matter what your family’s traditions look like, take a moment this year to really savor them.  Take a moment to look around at the folks you share this meal with, whether they be family by blood or by choice  Sure, you’ve likely had your disagreements with some- if not all- of them.  But chances are these are some of the most important people in your life.  Take a minute to really appreciate them.   The next 6 weeks are going to be a whirlwind of holiday shopping and planning and parties.  Make Thanksgiving the day you sit back, relax, and simply count your blessings.
