I’m a terrible cook. Like epic fail bad. I have ruined Rice Crispie treats (they were rock hard and flat as a pancake). I have turned pork chops into shoe leather. I have turned frozen pizzas into ashes. In spite of all this, my husband still eats most of what I put in front of him. He is truly a good man.
Like everyone else, I’ve heard and read a ton about Instant Pots. I had heard they were super easy to use and made amazing food. I was super curious about them but a little fearful too given my history in the kitchen. But my husband picked up on my curiosity (I never said “hey get me one of these”) and surprised me with one for my birthday last month! My friends’ reactions ranged from laughter to fear I would blow the house up. I can’t say I blame them!
I started with yogurt. One, I like it, and two, even if I really messed it up I would only be out about 3 bucks. The first batch tasted great but was a little runny. However, I did a little research and the second batch came out great! Now that I have the knack that will be something I’ll make a lot. But my husband isn’t a yogurt fan and so I knew I had to make something next he would like too. We were fortunate enough to have been gifted a pork loin roast by a local pork producer, so again it was a low risk project financially. It was juicy and tender but could have used more seasoning. Overall I’m calling it a win!
I know I’m late to the game, and I know that there are tons of great online groups/ resources for recipes for Instant Pots. But, not everyone is as awful in the kitchen as I am. Also, there’s just me and my husband- I don’t need or want make food for 8 to 10 people, in part because that means I will eat enough for 2 or 3 myself (portion control not my strong suit).
So I’m looking for recipes or good resources for Instant Pot recipes for dummies and also for recipes that aren’t geared toward feeding an entire city block. Can you help me?
Thanks in advance!
