Getting Out

      No Comments on Getting Out

By the time you are reading this I will be on my way home from a few days in Northern Oregon visiting family and friends.

I will admit I was not entirely on board when my husband first suggested this trip. In fact, originally he was going to go alone.  But I made the decision that my mental health is just as important as my physical health.  My eyes need new things to look at.  My brain needs new things to process. The last time I was away from my home overnight was in May, and that was to my parents’ farm.  This decision was reinforced by the support I got after my post a couple weeks ago about my struggles with working from home.

So yes, I will be leaving my house and my little town for the first time in a long time.

Now before you think I’ve taken complete leave of my senses, I assure you we are taking ALL KINDS of precautions.  We are flying on Delta, which has the highest rating for COVID safety of all major airlines.  We are flying in and out of smaller airports- Des Moines and Portland.  We are staying in private homes instead of hotels.  We are taking plenty of masks and hand sanitizer.  My husband has had 2 recent, negative, COVID tests.  We are taking our safety and health very seriously.

But we’re going.  Yes, I’m nervous and a little scared.  Yes, I know that some people might see this as flying in the face of everything I’ve said the last 6 months.  But I truly believe this is the right thing for me to do right now and that it will allow me to be stronger and healthier in the weeks and months ahead.   And maybe I’ll even get a blog post out of it too!
