There’s Nothing Like a Book

Recently I rediscovered how comforting it really is to disconnect from everything electronic and just get lost in a good old fashioned book.  I own lots of books, and I continue to buy books.  I just wasn’t reading any of them!

Sure, e-books are convenient and often less expensive.  And yes, they weight a lot less.  But they just aren’t the same.

Weirdly enough, work is actually what started my journey back to reading.  I received the book “Be Unstoppable” by Alden Mills as part of a “swag bag” from a virtual meeting.  I already have quite a few of these motivation/ self help books in my possession, but sadly, I haven’t read the majority of them (I don’t know what that says about me, but I don’t think it’s good).  I decided to give this one a try and I read the entire thing in one sitting.  And I enjoyed it!  After that, I decided to finally finish “Be a Badass” by Jen Sincero, a book I have started 3 times but never finished.  And that was enjoyable too!

I have since moved on to books about the Ariel Left Bridge in Duluth and Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Both had been gathering dust in my home for years without ever being opened in spite of both being about topics I am very interested in.  And they are both turning out to be great reads too.

I probably shouldn’t ask for any recommendations for reads yet because I DO have a pretty big backlog of unread tomes to get through, but I am anyway.  What authors/ series/ etc. do you love and think I should check out?  I am open to all suggestions!
