I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again- the problem with most conspiracy theories is overconfidence in the ability of the group in question.
9 times out of 10 that group is the government in some form. But this weekend I’ve been hearing a lot about a different entity who is supposedly doing very dark things behind the scenes- the NFL.
Now I’m not saying the NFL is perfect. I just wrote about being disappointed that Ben Rothlesbergers’s off field antics – like so many others- have been swept under the rug as long as they are REALLY GOOD at playing football https://beckypalmer.wpengine.com/i-love-football-but/ They still have a ways to go to get more women and people of color as head coaches, general managers, and front office jobs. And don’t even get me started on officiating this season!
But I don’t believe for a second that they the NFL is scripting games. And I don’t believe it for the same reason I don’t believe government conspiracy theories – I don’t think they could pull it off. There would have to be too many people involved to make it work. You cannot tell me that in an organization that employs 3000 people there isn’t one person who would either want the payout that stepping forward would get them or simply get drunk one night and spill the beans. That’s not how human beings work. And yes, I’ve heard the “explanation” that it would only have to be a handful of people in the know, but with the revolving door that is NFL rosters and staffs, that idea goes up in smoke too- there are WAY too many disgruntled former employees who would love nothing more than to shIt on the organization they believe did them wrong.
So no, I’m not convinced. Sorry.
But I DO have a couple ideas on how Tom Brady keeps looking younger and younger…………
