It’s Good to be Back. Mostly.

While not the case for all nations, here in the United States it’s finally starting to feel like we are getting back to the “old normal”.  Sporting events are back at full capacity seating.  Trade shows are back.  Bands are going out on tour again.

By the time you read this I will be recovering from another Bon Jovi concert in Minnesota.  No, I don’t know how many times I’ve seen them.  But I haven’t missed a tour since 1993 and a couple times I’ve gone twice on the same tour, so I believe I’m in the mid to upper teens now.  To put in mildly, I enjoy seeing them live.

Later this month I will be going to Kansas City to PlanetCon where I am looking forward to meeting Adam Savage.  He was one of the stars of Mythbusters-  a show I have written about loving several times.  I expect this to be a very crowded event as well- they have a very good line up of stars coming and there haven’t been many shows like this since COVID either.  There are some restrictions on photo ops for everyone’s safety, but for the most part it will be like any show from 2019.

Of COURSE I am super excited to go to these events, but I’m also a little nervous.  Yes, I’m vaxxed and boosted and yes I’m super vigilant at hand washing.  But outside of an airport, where everyone was masked up, I haven’t been in a big crown of people in a LONG time.  And even the airports I was in weren’t very crowded!  So I know it’s going to be a bit of an adjustment to walk into Xcel Energy Center with 15000 of my closest friends.

But I’m going to have to tear the Band Aid off at some point.  And what better way to do it than seeing my longtime love Jon Bon Jovi?  I think I’m going to be alright.
