Under the Influence?

Outside of Tom Brady, there are few people I dislike as much as “influencers”.   I actively dislike that it’s a thing at all and I could argue that the world would be a better place without them.

But instead of ranting about them (which I have done quite a few times already), today I ask the question- who are they influencing?

Granted, I will be the first to admit that I’m not the target audience for the majority of these folks.  I’m old and I’m cheap and I live in the Midwest.  But I have I never in my life heard a single person of any age bracket say that they purchased anything because some random pretty girl (or guy) on social media suggested it to them.  Not once. Not even my 11 year old niece.

So I ask the question again, who is being influenced?  Where are these people purchasing clothing, golf clubs, hotel rooms, or anything else based on a stranger’s photos?   Do they actually exist?  Or is this entire industry a scam?

Do you have any “go-to” influencers you look to?  If yes, please let me know!
