The Mixed Bag

2022 was one helluva roller coaster.  We have all had a lot of ups and downs.

So here’s my high level look back at 2022.  The good, and bad and the ugly.

The good:

My nephew graduated from high school with honors.  He is now in technical college studying welding. He is an amazing young man and I am so proud of him.

I had a couple great trips- Kansas City with Pat and Omaha by myself.

We had a great day trip for Ava’s birthday.  Got mani/ pedis, lunch at Panera Bread, and spent a lot of time and money at Ulta.

I went to two great concerts – Bon Jovi and Weird Al- with two great friends.

Lilly’s babies celebrated their first birthday!  They are all big, healthy cats who are in great homes full of love.

The bad:

We lost our baby girl Pumpkin at the age of 16 to digestive issues/ old age.  We’ve had her since she was a 5 month old kitten and it sucked.  I still find myself looking for her in the mornings and so does Lilly.

Pat lost several good friends and customers.  We made a very quick trip to Los Angeles for one memorial service this fall.

My father had a very bad burn on his arm/ shoulder and injured his shoulder in the same incident.  The good news is that he has made a full recovery from the burn and his knee is much better too.

The ugly:

Tom Brady unretired.  I 1000% believe the shitty year he’s had since is karma for not only going back on his word, but also for taking $1 million dollars in PPP money he clearly doesn’t need.    He looked better 10 plastic surgeries ago too.

Dancing with the Stars moved from ABC to Disney Plus.  I just waited until the season ended and then binged it over the course of a couple weeks, so I only paid for one month of the service.  But not everyone has the means to do that.  Bonus- the execs at Disney are scratching their heads trying to figure out why the ratings went down so much.

The return of Trump the candidate.  Thankfully, many Republicans have figured out what a dipshit that guy is.  In terms of domestic policies alone the other candidates who have declared so far aren’t much better, but at least it appears most of them are smart enough to know that mocking disabled people, suing everyone who disagrees with you, and lying every time you open your mouth aren’t Presidential qualities.  There is a reason why even Fox News has abandoned him.

There are a lot of little things I could add, but looking back I am reminded how blessed I am.  I have my husband, 2 sweet cats, a good job, good friends, and so many other things to be thankful for.

Here’s hoping the same is true for you and best wishes for a great 2023 to all!
