My Favorite Network Explained

One of the things people ask me all the time is why I love the Food Network so much when I am by my own admission a terrible cook.

There are a lot of reasons- I am a complicated creature.  But here are the top 3.

#1 They are a great way to decompress.  Most people have at least one “guilty pleasure” show they watch to relax. You watch The Bachelor, I watch Chopped.  While the cooking is going on I don’t have to worry about COVID.  I don’t have to worry about Chinese balloons.  I can just relax and enjoy some wholesome entertainment.

#2 I have favorite chefs.  There are a cast of regular chefs that appear on many shows.  I love Alex Guaranaschelli.  I love Guy Fieri.  Much like we love to see our favorite actors in new shows, I like seeing my favorite chefs cooking, talking about cooking, and in cooking competitions.

#3 I love learning new things.  Even if I don’t actually follow along and cook what I see- and in fact I don’t even watch many cooking demo shows- I learn about new ingredients and new gadgets.  I also love leaning about new chefs who may become one of my new favorites.

So there you go.  The short version of why a terrible cook loves watching good cooks 🙂
