What are You Supporting?

There has been a big movement to “Support Law Enforcement” in recent year.  This came about largely as a racially motivated pushback after the George Floyd tragedy, and the people who are supporting it because they are racist idiots are trash plain and simple. Police officers are not above the law anymore than anyone else is and there is indisputable video evidence that the officers that day acted unlawfully.   Period.  End of story.

But I’m not talking about those people.  I’m talking about the folks who are genuinely concerned about their local peace officers and probably just haven’t done their due diligence into what they may appear to be supporting with their bumper stickers.

I’ve noticed interesting dichotomy with many of these folks.  It probably applies to the racist pieces of shit too, but I don’t care about them.

It’s all well and good to say that you support the police, but how can you say you support them when you actively try to mislead and/ or actively avoid them when YOU are the one committing the crimes?

If you claim to support the activities of the police, you shouldn’t complain when you get a speeding ticket.  You can’t say you all about law and order and then be angry that you “can’t go out and have a good time anymore” because of drunk driving laws.   You can’t say you stand with law enforcement but think it’s OK to drive without a license and / or insurance.

Simply put, if you don’t think the law applies to you, you need to take off the t-shirt because you are a hypocrite.  You can’t have it both ways.
