Lighthouse Day

Today is Lighthouse Day!

Lighthouses are not used today like they were used in centuries past, but they are a huge part of maritime history.

There are many lighthouses in the US (and other countries) that have been preserved as museums.  My personal favorite is Split Rock Lighthouse in northern Minnesota.  It’s just north of Duluth and it’s in a beautiful state park.  If you’ve never been (or if you haven’t been in ages) I recommend a visit.  If you don’t live in the upper Midwest I’m sure you can find other ones to visit.  They are very interesting!
