By the time you are reading this Donald Trump will be the President of the United States again.
I’ve made my opinion on Trump pretty clear over the years and no, it has not changed in recent weeks. He’s already walked back several key campaign promises that likely won him the election- most notably that he would lower grocery prices. Why anyone thought this pathological liar would tell the truth while running for office- famously a place for stretched truths- is beyond me.
Then there are the threats against Panama, Greenland, and Canada. Yes, Canada. The land of poutine, maple leaves, and overly polite people. Where- fun fact- the United States gets 75% of its raw aluminum from because there are no bauxite deposits underneath US soil. Aluminum is very important to the industry I work in so this is of interest to me, but it’s far from the only item that could skyrocket in price if relations between the US and Canada go south. And don’t even get me started on Trump’s idea to annex Canada. There is as much chance of that happening as there is he stops getting bad spray tans- i.e. 00.00 percent.
I don’t have a crystal ball, so I don’t know how the next 4 years are going to go. But I know that I have friends who are worried about the future of their child’s education, their access to healthcare, and their marriages. I have friends getting close to retirement age who are worried about the future of Social Security, I have friends in the LGBT+ community who are worried for their very lives and or the lives of their children. These things are a helleva lot more important to me than the price of eggs.
So yeah, I’m expecting the next four years to be a bumpy ride. Buckle up everyone.
I’m beyond terrified. Day one and he has already gone after trans rights.
It’s disgusting. I wish I knew what else to say to help
