You might think that is an insane question, but there are a lot of very smart people who think we are in fact living in the Matrix. One of the big things they point to as a “proof” of this is the Mandela Effect.
This of course is named after Nelson Mandela and the sheer number of people who are convinced they remember him passing away in the 1980s in prison. In reality, he was released in 1990, served as President of South Africa, and passed in 2013. Other common examples include Shaggy from Scooby Doo does not had an Adam’s apple (I thought he did too) and the spelling of the Berenstain Bears.
I recently had an a situation where I found myself in my very own version. I was at a birthday party, and a woman who looked familiar to me stating that she had met me at a graduation party 4 years ago. A graduation party that I am 95% sure I did not attend. I admit my memory is not the best, but my husband’s is. He also recalls we had a conflict and regretfully were not able to go, but neither he nor I could recall what the other event was.
Another common experience that it pointed to as proof of the simulation is deja vu. Funnily enough, on same day as the birthday party I went into a coffee shop I have never been in before. I literally had to Google the address. Yet when I walked in it immediately felt familiar. I thought of several unique items that were in the take and go case before I could see it.
I have no explanation for either of these events. I’m not saying that for 100% sure we are living in a simulation, but I’m not saying for 100% sure we aren’t either.
