I had another post half written but I just can’t finish it today.
Renee Macklin Good was shot in cold blood by an ICE agent in Minnesota a few days ago. She isn’t an immigrant, she wasn’t armed or dangerous in any way. Her only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The “man” (and I use that term loosely) who shot her likely had PTSD from a significant traffic incident he was involved in about a year ago. Oh yes, and he called her a “fucking bitch” – clearly a sign of a well-adjusted person who respects human life.
In case you’ve forgotten, ICE units are not police units. They can’t arrest anyone. They are only supposed to enforce immigration law. It begs the question why they are dressed like Halo coplayers, but I digress.
As awful as this tragedy is, it is made 1000% worse by people defending the asshole who shot an innocent, confused woman in cold blood in her own car. Again, ICE is not the police. They have no authority to direct traffic, arrest anyone, or perform any other law enforcement activity. NO ONE is required to “comply” with their demands unless they have a warrant with your name on it. NO ONE. Period. Full stop.
I stand with Governor Walz and the good people of Minnesota who are speaking out about how wrong this is. If this offends you in any way shape of form please exit my life stage left and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
