Little Hills I Will Die On

I’ve spent plenty of time talking about big issues that are important to and I will continue to do so.  Things like support for the LBGTQ+ community, mental health awareness, and what Christianity is all about.

Today is not one of those days.  Today is about the smaller issues that I’m far too passionate about.  The things that make no sense for anyone to care about as much as I do.  Many of these I’ve mentioned before but as anyone who knows me well knows, that’s never stopped me before.

So, lets get right into it:

#1 Neither wind chill or heat index are real things outside of an equation.  There is nothing more subjective than “feels like” and that’s exactly what these things claim to quantify.  Send 10 people outside when it’s really hot OR really cold and ask them temp it feels like and you will get 10 different answers.  You get no actually useful information.  And if you aren’t smart enough to know to take precautions when it’s very hot or very cold you get what you deserve.

#2 Cursive has no place in the modern world.   I’ve signed my taxes digitally the last few years.  The last 2 credit cards I’ve gotten in the mail don’t even have a signature line on the back because we use digital wallets or PIN numbers when we pay.   AI can read you letters from Grandma, and the fact that’s used as an excuse to teach it proves my point exactly- even when done well, no one can read it!  This “skill” needs to go the way of the dodo bird and the passenger pigeon.

#3 Football is the best professional sport.  No, the NFL isn’t perfect.  But in the NFL every game counts.  Hockey, baseball and basketball seasons are all over 100 games each.  Football season is 17 games.  AND most of the games are on one day of the week- Sunday.  You don’t need a calendar, calculator and 3 apps to keep track of your team’s schedule or standing.  And who doesn’t love a good Super Bowl party?

#4 Solo vacations are the bomb.  Hell, solo adventures of any kind.  Go shopping.  Go to that restaurant.  Go to that movie.  Do not wait until you have a partner or like-minded friend to do any of things you want to do.  Does it feel a little weird the first time?  Yes.  But once you start doing what you want to do when you want to do it you’ll notice plenty of other people flying solo and enjoying themselves like you deserve.

#5 Wear clothes that fit.  Women’s clothing sizes are wildly inconsistent, so do not get hung up on what the size tag reads.  No one else can see what size you are wearing and I guarantee no one cares.  And no matter your current state of your relationship with loving yourself, wearing clothes that fit properly will always be the most flattering option for you.

Do you have any little hills you will gladly die on?  Let me know!
