This is a tricky one for my people. It’s National Give Something Away Day.
Why is this hard for my family? Because I come from a long line of pack rats. They save everything. And I’m not entirely immune. Until recently I still had a box of college textbooks in my basement. No, I don’t know why.
I recently took several bags of clothing and a few boxes of kitchenware/ dishes to a local thrift store that is run entirely by volunteers. They donate their proceeds to local charities and non-profits. The vibe was very different than at a Goodwill or other large organization shop in the best way possible. I actually felt the folks working intake were happy to accept your items.
If this isn’t your cup of tea, you can donate to your local food pantry. Bake cookies for your coworkers. Find what feels right to you.
You know what they say- it’s better to give than to receive.
