I’m petty enough my original list of 5 doesn’t even begin to cover all the things I care about far too much to be psychologically healthy. I am aware that doesn’t paint me in the best light, but I don’t care. These are my hill and these are my beans (bonus points if you get the movie reference).
#1 The best music was made in the 80s. Before autotune. Before algorithms. No matter what genre you like, it was represented well in the 1980s. Country. Pop. Rock. Hip-hop. Rap. We had it all and we had no idea how good we had it.
And everyone was welcome in the pool! Radio stations played Kenny Rogers followed by Kenny Loggins followed by Whitesnake followed by Whitney Houston. And don’t even get me started on the music videos!
#2 Leggings are not pants. I don’t want to see your ass crack in the grocery store. I don’t want to see your crotch in Target. Exercise clothes are for exercising. Your son’s baseball game is not the gym. Sephora is not a yoga studio.
#3 Android is superior to Apple. Why would I chose a system that only has 2 or 3 phone models available when I could have my pick of dozens? Why would I choose platform with 50% of apps being free vs. one with 85% of apps being free? Why would I chose to have less compatibility with every other devise I own?
People who love Apple are people who think having an iPhone means something. And it does, just not what you think it does.
#4 Real books are the best way to consume books. I don’t want to read books on my tablet. Reading is one of my escapes from screens. There is nothing like curling up with a good book and a cozy blanket. And while I get the appeal of audiobooks I’m not a fan of them either. I don’t want to think that hard while I’m driving or exercising.
#5 The “reply to all” option should be removed from email entirely. OR, at bare minimum you should have to go through extensive training before being allowed to use it. There are few things more frustrating than getting trapped in the middle of a “reply to all” email chain that does not involve you yet you have no way to remove yourself from.
So what little hill are you ready to die on? I know you have one!
