Normally I don’t write about National weeks or months, just days. But I just learned that November is National Model Railroad Month!
This is a big deal to me because my dad collects, operates, and occasionally repairs and sells Lionel toy trains. He got a train set for Christmas as a child and has been hooked ever since. I used to joke that he’s spent far more money on trains that he has on me.
There is a train underneath my parents’ Christmas tree every year. They recently built a new garage, and only about a third of the structure is actually for vehicles. Most of it is for trains. A large, very much still in process layout, dad’s workbench, numerous display cases, and more boxes than you care to count.
Trains are a big deal in my family.
So yes, please celebrate this month!
