Fun?

“What do you do for fun?”   “What are your hobbies?”

We all get asked that from time to time.  It’s a common question when meeting someone for the first time.  It can come up at a job interview.  People seem to be especially curious how I spend my time when they find out my child is a black cat (well, she’s actually kind of chubby, but I digress).

So, what DO I do for fun you ask?

Of course I blog.  The amount of time that takes varies from week to week depending on how the gods of writing are (or aren’t) smiling on me that particular day.   And when I’m not blogging myself I research blogging.  Since joining the North Iowa Bloggers I’ve learned there is a am almost endless amount of information on how to be a better blogger.   I’m not trying to make a living at this, but I still want to write stuff someone else actually wants to read- otherwise what’s the point?

I spend/ waste time on social media.  Mostly Facebook and Twitter (@beckyiniowa if you’re interested)  but lately I’ve become slightly obsessed with Yelp and Influenster.  Yes, I know Yelp has been around for years, but I “discovered” it when planning my recent Vegas vacation and now I’m rating everything!  Influenster is also a rating site, for everything from beauty products to candy to pet supplies.  Lori from Lifestyles of the Pantless  http://www.lifestylesofthepantsless.com/  turned me on to this one because not only can you rate stuff, which is fun, but you can get products to test.  I signed up in March and I got a whole box of products in July to review- toner, nail polish, shampoo, and several other things.  I highly recommend it!

So there you have it.  Not exactly the luxurious evenings that parents of small children imagine.  Sorry if I burst anyone’s bubbles.  And yes, I’m aware that these are all indoor activities.  I grew up on a farm so I’ve enjoyed plenty of nature already thank you very much!
