A Strange One

Today is International Strange Music Day.

This day was created by Patrick Grant, a musician from New York City and is named after a song he wrote called, oddly enough, Strange Music.  The idea is to expose yourself to, and perhaps even perform, strange music.

What’s strange?  Well, you can take it one of two ways-

#1 Music that’s foreign to you.  If you’ve never listened to modern pan flute music, Chinese opera, or pirate metal (all very real things), then today is the day to check them out!

#2 Music that is truly odd. Perhaps played on the theramin, a wire fence, or a didgeridoo (also all real things).

Either way, today is the day to expand your horizons!  And who knows, you might just discover that folktronia is your new favorite thing.
