Be Thankful

(Almost) every year I post a list of things I’m thankful for this time of year.  After all, that is the point of Thanksgiving!   I’m not going to do that this year, but I am going to write down a list of blessing and I recommend that everyone reading this do the same.  And given all the strife, anger and name-calling of this year I think it’s more important than ever this year for ALL of us to remember how blessed we really are.

Sure, it’s easy to remember 2016 as a dumpster fire.  I had my gall bladder removed in April.  My depression and anxiety relapsed recently.  I had a fender bender last week.  Two of my cousins lost their father suddenly in March.  None of those are too great.

But also in 2016 Pat and I celebrated our 10th anniversary in Las Vegas.  My cousins and I have celebrated them getting engaged, pregnant, and being Homecoming Queen.   I got to see my niece dance and graduate from preschool. I got to see my nephew in his middle school talent show.  I have a lot to be thankful for and so does everyone reading this.

If you are reading this, it means that you have electric power and/ or a smart phone.  It means that you have leisure time to spend as you see fit.  It means you can read.  It means you can see.  It means you are alive.    And there is no greatest blessing than that.
