Let It Go

Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be a post about that Disney movie that took over the entire planet!  Quite the opposite. This is about a conversation I had with my therapist right before Christmas.

Yes, I’m currently seeing a therapist.  That, along with a medication chance, it what’s helping me improve my mental health, which I’m happy to report has improved greatly since I admitted I was struggling a couple of months ago.

But I’m still a work in progress and one of the things I’m really working on right now is, yes, letting things go.  I’m not referring to grudges per se, although I admit I have a couple of those hanging around too.   The things that I really need to let go of are things that I can’t control and do me no favors by taking up space in my brain.  Things like little mistakes I made that no one remembers now besides me.  Things like deciding that if some people want to throw away their money on “essential” oils and other nonsensical “alternative medicine” items that’s OK as long as they have the disposable income to do that and still feed, house and clothe themselves and their families.   Things that get in the way of my being able to accept me for being me.  Sure, there are things I can work on, but I’m not completely without merit as a wife, blogger, employee, or human being.

So, while I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, this is about as close to one as I’ve been to one in years- In 2017 I am going to try to just Let It Go.
