I hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend. I’m fighting off some kind of sore throat/ cough thing and just not feeling creative. So instead, of my usually scheduled musings, please enjoy the latest single by my Hall Pass aka Jon Bon Jovi and company, titled “This House is Not For Sale” courtesy of Vevo.
There IS an actual national ex- spouse day, which is April 14th. However, I’m celebrating it today because today is the birthday of my ex-husband Scott. Scott and I were married for 8 years and there are a multitude of reasons why it didn’t last longer. Many stem from us simply marrying too young. Perhaps partially because of that lack… Read more »
Today is Individual Rights Day. Normally I save my “special day” post for later in the week, but this one feels so timely I had to talk about it in my weekly long post. Today we honor John Locke, a philosopher born in this day in 1632, who wrote extensively about the rights of each individual person that they earn… Read more »
Today is International Strange Music Day. This day was created by Patrick Grant, a musician from New York City and is named after a song he wrote called, oddly enough, Strange Music. The idea is to expose yourself to, and perhaps even perform, strange music. What’s strange? Well, you can take it one of two ways- #1 Music that’s foreign… Read more »

It used to be mostly by people who were a little excentric claiming cover ups of things like alien autopsies, who really shot JFK, and the whereabouts of Elvis Presley. Yes, it’s true. I have Olympic fever. Over the last 9 days I’ve watched handball, table tennis, badminton, water polo, synchronized diving, fencing, beach and indoor volleyball, swimming, gymnastics, cycling, sprint races and shot put. NONE of these are sports I ever watch outside of the Olympics. Two weeks ago I didn’t even know handball existed. But there’s just… Read more »
“What do you do for fun?” “What are your hobbies?” We all get asked that from time to time. It’s a common question when meeting someone for the first time. It can come up at a job interview. People seem to be especially curious how I spend my time when they find out my child is a black cat… Read more »
Today is National Underwear Day. I cannot make this stuff up. Every year in New York City a flash mob is organized to celebrate this wonderful day and this year there will be one in New Orleans as well. While it might be too late to hop on a plane for this year’s events you can always start planning for… Read more »
More and more lately it’s tempting to just stay off the internet entirely. Facebook posts turn into political arguments. If your email inbox isn’t full of spam or bill reminders it’s its full of urban legends still being circulated by older family members years after being debunked. The internet was supposed to be this amazing place for learning and connecting, not… Read more »
