Beating the Dead Horse. Again.

As many of you know, I was recently on vacation.   My husband and I went to the Iowa State Fair in the rain, and after that I went to Omaha for a few days.  Among the places I visited were Omaha Zoo, several museums, and the famous Bob footbridge.

But, as usual, both my husband and I had people talk about my husband “letting me” go out of state alone.  The same thing happens when he goes on trips without me.

What the actual fuck?  Do THAT many people have severe trust issues in their relationships?  What else would be the reason having that reaction?  I understand people not understanding the appeal of a solo vacation (but if you haven’t tried it, you REALLY should).  I can even understand people who don’t know us well wondering if there are issues in our relationship (there aren’t).

But I can not and do not understand the concept of “letting” your spouse leave their sight for more than a couple hours.  I feel REALLY bad for people who have relationships so lacking in trust and basic respect for each other that this mindset makes sense to them.

Simply put, if you do not feel comfortable with your spouse going away for a few days without you, you really need to reevaluate your marriage and probably look at some counseling.   You’re the one with the problem.  Not me.
