English muffins have been around since the 11th Century and yes, they did originate in modern day England. They were first written about in the United States in 1894 and have been popular ever since.
I personally enjoy them with peanut butter, or as part of a McMuffin break sandwich. But I’ve also used them as a bun for a chicken sandwich (because I forgot to buy bread) and it worked really well!
