It’s been a while since I did a “rapid fire” post and if there was ever a time to do one, it’s now.
I took on a new project at work starting in December, but really kicking off after the first of the year. It’s been scary, rewarding, challenging, and even a little bit fun sometimes. The good news is that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I can already start to see the rewards of my efforts. But bad news is that sometimes (like today) I still leave work with nothing left in the tank.
So rapid fire it is.
#1 Why are more and more people adopting the INCREDIBLY rude habit of walking about in public on speakerphone? I don’t want to hear about your doctor’s appointment in the grocery store, your cousin’s legal issues at the chiropractor, or your sweet nothings with your new boo while I’m eating lunch. Part of me is impressed that many people are even still using their phones FOR talking, but for the love of all that is holy NO SPEAKERPHONES IN PUBLIC!!!!
#2 Why are there so many streaming services??? The Bon Jovi documentary is on Hulu. I didn’t have Hulu but now I do for a month. Because Bon Jovi. I had Disney Plus for a month once for something- I’ve already forgotten what for. I’ve resigned myself to never seeing anything that’s on AppleTV. I’m too old for this shit.
#3 How does anyone with more than 3 functioning brain cells still think Trump as President again is a good idea? Hell, we are still trying to regain the trust and goodwill we lost internationally from his last go-round. He’s already been convicted or is on trial for everything from bank fraud to sexual assault. He can’t stay awake (or control his bodily functions) in public but calls Biden old. Fun fact- Trump is only a couple years younger! He has done everything short of tattoo “I’m a moron” on his forehead. I don’t care what you think of Biden, my cat would make a better President that Trump. Which cat? Doesn’t matter- pick your favorite.
#4 I’m too old to learn new slang. I don’t know what “riz” or “bussin” mean and I’m not going to find out. You are just going to have to just use old words around this old person.
#5 I am totally OK with banning TikTok. But not for the reason you may think. 30 second sound bites/ videos are making everyone stupider. Influencer culture in general just needs to go away. It’s bad enough for someone to become famous just for being pretty on the internet. It’s even worse to become famous because you can do a stupid dance to a Taylor Swift song. Also- fun fact- TikTok is banned in China. Do with that what you will.
Anyway, that’s enough from this grumpy old woman for today. Now get off my lawn.
