Whatever Happened to Shame?

This might make me sound old.  But hey- I am old.

Whatever happened to shame?

There is a guy online who started a conversation about how many times he’d shit himself at concerts.  There are people who think nothing of telling everyone on Tik Tok exactly how much credit card debt they are in AND the really stupid crap they bought to get into that position.   There are entire YouTube channels that show nothing but people throwing public tantrums over little things like a fast food order being wrong or someone accidentally bumping into them at the grocery store.

When did it become acceptable- even celebrated- to be a menace to society?    Is it all for the clicks?  If yes, that’s sad because the money isn’t that good.  On Tik Tok once you’ve hit the thresholds for monetization- over 10K followers and over 100K views in the last 30 days- you make anywhere from twenty cents to one dollar for every 1000 views.  And Tik Tok has a more generous monetization programs compared to other sites!  Maybe you just want to go viral and don’t care about the money.  Well, enjoy it while it lasts-  in 48 hours you’ll be replaced by the next idiot.

And that’s assuming social media clout why you act a fool in the first place.  The moron kicking and screaming on the floor at Arby’s isn’t even the one who gets the glory!.  That goes to the first person who posts the video.  Instead of you know, calling the police.

I don’t get it, but then again, I’m old.  But I assure you that if I ever shit myself- at a concert or anywhere else- no one will ever know about it.
